Potter at The Clay School

Nelson is an amateur Potter and has been working with clay for four years. He is an Army Veteran and former Combat Medic with one deployment to Baghdad, Iraq 2007-2008. He started ceramics at Estancia High School in Southern California in 2005. He then took a nine year break from clay while he served in the Army and started a family. While working on issues at the Department of Veterans Affairs it was recommended to him that he get a hobby. He found The Clay School in Lynn and was reunited with a passion for ceramics that he had almost forgotten. Nelson is an Artist in Residence at the The Clay School and focuses on functional wheel thrown pottery. His work can be seen on Instagram @AirSmasher. The work that will be available for purchase at Open Studios will include wheel thrown, vases, desk lamps, water fountains, mugs, cups and bowls.
