Joanna Agnes, of The Quirky Leopard, is a fibers artist. At the age of seven her grandmother gave her yarn and a crochet hook for Christmas and she hasn’t stopped creating since. She attended Massachusetts College of Art and Design for Fiber Art, where she studied sculptural weaving, crochet, knitting, paper making, and tapestry weaving.
Today she works in a variety of mediums and continues to create whimsical pieces. Her main focus are her Quirkies. Each is an original, one of a kind creature, as there are no patterns. She freely crochets each one with love and responds to the yarn as the hook quickly moves. Each creature is filled with vibrant colors and appears to have their own personality.
Entering into The Quirky Leopard studio is an experience in itself. The multicolored walls and intricate lively pieces often bring a smile to visitors, regardless of age. Through her work Joanna hopes to bring about a childlike wonder and joy we can so often forget in our busy lives.
