Paul’s unique sense of space, shape, color and light has led him through many creative disciplines throughout his art and business career. His work is influenced by forms and structures in architectural styles, in nature’s organic shapes and in the illusion that light plays on one’s vision. Inspiration for surface designs comes from nature’s patterns. When studied from different viewpoints, his work offers a shifting understanding of form, volume, and symmetry. Redefining a shape or creating inventive interpretations, he utilizes the familiar to present the unexpected.
As a graduate of the School at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and Tufts University, Paul continued his studies as a 5th year graduate student at the MFA where he was awarded a Traveling Fellowship to study abroad. Six of his pieces were retained by the MFA for their permanent collection. Those pieces and others were part of a Traveling Fellowship Show at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
As a creative & design director for several advertising agencies, i.e. Arnold Worldwide, Ingalls Associates & Ciavarra Design Inc, Paul also has been an Adjunct Professor, teaching design & concept at the School at the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts and Massachusetts College of Art. Throughout his career he has received numerous creative awards in Boston & New York Art Directors Shows and locally.
He has been the recipient for outstanding work in Printmaking, Sculpture and Ceramics at the Marblehead Arts Festival. He also is an artist in residence at The Clay School in Lynn, Ma.
